Meet Coach Yu
Chlarence Yu, BKin
Chlarence holds a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia and is currently pursuing his Master of Kinesiology (MKin) at UBC. His education is rooted in movement science and practical application — combining classroom knowledge with hands-on experience in strength and conditioning.
He is on track to become a Registered Kinesiologist and plans to pursue certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.
Athletic Background
Chlarence comes from a multi-sport background and currently competes in Powerlifting. He previously played Ultimate Frisbee at a competitive level and continues to bring an athletic, movement-based lens to his coaching style.
His personal experience in sport gives him a deep appreciation for performance, progression, and building long-term strength that transfers beyond the gym.
Coaching Approach
Chlarence’s coaching is client-centered and intentional. He believes in creating training experiences that are personalized, progressive, and grounded in sound coaching principles — not trends.
His sessions focus on skill development, smart progression, and helping clients build the confidence to train independently over time.
Who He Works With
Chlarence coaches clients of all levels — from those new to training, to returning lifters, to athletes needing structured programming. He also assists with coaching small group sessions and has experience supporting clients recovering from injury.
His goal is to make strength training more accessible, educational, and sustainable for every client.
